Use the data displayed by PA / DA / SA in the Top Menu to measure the distance and exact position of the defect.
[The ‘A’ stands for A Gate]

Press and hold the Top Menu to select DA for verification.
[The data displayed in the Top Menu are derived from signals detected through the gate.]

- The images above illustrate the standard detection ranges for PA, DA, and SA.

The PA value displays 0 mm when the probe’s front face is placed directly above the defect.

The PA value (e.g., 9.9 mm) naturally varies depending on the horizontal distance between the probe’s front face and the defect.

The defect is positioned exactly 25 mm below the test specimen’s top surface, which corresponds with the displayed DA value of 25.0 mm.
The DA value uses the 25 mm depth as a point of reference to verify every vector within an acceptable uncertainty range of +/- 0.5 mm.
The distance between the defect and the probe along a 45-degree angle is 35 mm, which is accurately reflected by the SA value of 35.3 mm.
We can ultimately verify that the depth and distance data provided by PA, DA, and SA are nearly identical to the actual physical distances between the probe and the defect.
